Highlights of this design

World-class Drivers

Not only do the Veracity ST's feature the incomparable RAAL ribbon tweeters, this design features a pair of incredible Seas W16 woofers. Seas managed to squeeze a 6" cone in a frame size that is similar to their 5" Excel woofer. The result is more heft and weight in the bass department.

HT2-TL Performance in a Smaller Package

With performance very comparable to the larger HT2-TL design, the ST's are sized much like the SongTowers with an 8" wide front baffle. Although the design is perfect for larger rooms, it is perfect for smaller rooms as well.

Great Bass Response

The Seas W16 woofers can move a lot of air compared to a 5" woofer. In fact, bass heft and weight is very comparable to speakers using 7" drivers. So you don't have to sacrifice bass performance even though this is a smaller speaker at 8" wide, 42" tall and 12" deep.

Transmission Line Cabinets

To top things off, the ST's transmission line design means palcement is very flexible. You can place these closer to room boundaries than a typical ported speaker without suffering performance issues.

The Story

A New Design is Born

As often happens, one of our customers, Todd, wanted a pair of Supercharged SongTowers with the Seas W16 6” drivers rather than the standard W15 5” drivers. Since the frame size is the same, we were able to design a SongTower sized cabinet to accomodate the W16’s. In fact, the Veracity ST cabinets are actually 2” shorter than the SongTower cabinets. Since the W16’s are a 6” driver, we assumed the performance of these speakers would be about half way between the Supercharged SongTowers and the HT2-TL’s. But when we did an A/B comparison with our ABX switch, we were unable to hear any significant difference in bass response. So if you are look for HT2-TL-level performance in a speaker with a smaller footprint, the ST’s are for you.

The Sound

Rather than telling you what we thought of the results, we'll let Todd explain...

I think it makes sense to compare all three types of SongTowers, which is easy enough for me since I own all of them. (Alas, I have not heard the ST RT.) The regular old SongTower, which is now in my two channel home theater, is a great bargain that does everything well. It sounds, perhaps, a tad warm compared to the other two models, but offers great, unforced detail, a beautiful midrange, and very airy highs. The Supercharged SongTower, now seeing service in my bedroom system, ratchets up the performance in all areas, with the biggest improvement coming in areas of overall clarity and detail presentation, but it also has notably improved bass performance. One can hear everything in a recording with ease. The Veracity ST, well, it just improves everything just that little bit more. The most obvious improvement comes in bass. It is weightier, tighter, cleaner, and more detailed, all at once. Mids sound fuller, more substantial, and both mids and highs sound more relaxed and smoother than the already decidedly easy to listen to SCST. The new design takes an extraordinary sounding speaker and makes it sound extraordinary-er.

Thanks Todd!

Enjoy...

Frequency Response

Extreme Accuracy

Flat Response

As you can see in this frequency response plot, the Veracity ST design is extremely accurate with ruler flat response. You will hear the music EXACTLY as it was produced.

Phase Coherent

In addition to flat frequency response, the Veracity ST design is phase coherent in the crossover regions resulting in a speaker that images exceptionally well.
