SongTower SC overview the story As a custom speaker builder, we are often asked about speakers using drivers other than those in our standard models.  A customer really liked the Veracity HT2-TL’s, but wanted a slightly smaller speaker.  He asked if we could use the Seas Excel W15’s in combination with RAAL ribbon tweeter.  We said, “of course we can!” And then we went to work. the results Paul Kittinger worked up a TL cabinet design and Dennis Murphy did his usual superb job with the crossover. The result is a SongTower version that plays deeper and is more detailed in the midrange.  What’s more, the cabinet is not as deep as the standard SongTower. SongTower Supercharged cabinets are a sleek 8" wide, 9" deep and 44.5" tall (not counting plinths and spikes). It can also be built with 1” walls (rather than the standard 3/4”).   In this case the depth increases to 10 1/2”. the sound So, how do they sound? The top end is lush, transparent and detailed - just what you'd expect from the exceptional RAAL ribbon tweeter The driver dispersion and the slim cabinet combine to offer superb imaging The sound stage is deep and wide with instruments and vocals precisely located. Midrange is detailed and accurate. Voices are rendered with realism The TL cabinet results in very impressive bass extension to 34Hz! In short, the SongTower Supercharged takes the basic SongTower design to the next level.  Hearing them, we think you'll agree. placement One additional feature should be noted. Transmission line speakers couple with room modes differently than traditional ported speakers. As a result, they can be placed closer to the rear wall without producing "boomy" bass. So speaker placement is far less critical than with almost any other speaker design. While all speakers benefit from ample room to the rear of the speaker, the SongTowers will work well with as little as 12" of room to the rear - a significant benefit in some situations!
