With final driver selection out of the way, we are now into the production phase and are building SoundScape 10's and 12's for owners. We will finish and ship the first production pairs over the next month. Once they are complete, we will take photos, work up web pages and get ready for the "official" launch May 1st and 2nd, 2010 at AKFest. This has been an extremely long journey and we are excited to have finally crossed the finish line. Now its time to celebrate! Join us for the fun.Crossovers 101A crossover is the heart and soul of any speaker design. You can use the finest speaker drivers in the world, but without a great crossover, you will never obtain the best performance from those drivers. Dennis Murphy has earned a stellar reputation for exquisite crossover design. In his blog, Crossovers 101, Dennis explains, in simple terms, why crossovers are required and demonstrates his points with graphs.>| read the blogPassive PerfectionWhen developing the woofer section of our new SoundScape models, we built both ported and transmission line prototype versions of the woofer cabinets. But after a great deal of tweaking, neither were deemed appropriate. They were good, but not good enough for this no-holds-barred project.Jeff Bagby, author of a number of speaker design software programs and a successful speaker designer in his own right, suggested we explore the use of passive radiators and worked out all the details.Through the use of passive radiators, Jeff was able to develop woofer sections that met all of our design goals and more. In fact, there are few subwoofers on the market that can touch the performance of the SoundScape's woofer section. In this blog, Passive Perfection, Jeff explains why passives were the perfect solution. If you ever wondered how the SoundScape woofer sections produce such deep, clean, accurate and musical deep bass, here are the nuts and bolts behind Jeff's woofer section design.>| read the blogChoosing VeneersWith most speakers, you have a choice of "standard" finishes. They may vary from model to model, but you basically have three or four finish options. From the very beginning, we decided to offer virtually unlimited finish options. We felt that if we offered great speaker designs at very reasonable prices, and offered the opportunity to have any finish a person would want, we would have a combination offered nowhere else. The only problem is, with so many choices, some people find it difficult to make a selection. In this blog, Choosing Veneers, we offer some resources and background information on the different types of veneers available. While we can't choose veneers for you, we can at least provide the background you need to sort through your options if you desire a wood finish.>| read the blogThanks for readingWe hope you enjoyed our newsletter.
