the HT3 drivers
G2
The HT3's utilize the G2 ribbon tweeter, an
extremely low-mass driver that is significantly faster than a traditional dome
tweeter. As such, it can faithfully track instantaneous transients in music or
cinema sound, resulting is a level of high-end detail that simply must be heard
to be appreciated.
Ribbon tweeters are known both for their incredible speed. This
is due to the fact that they are able to reproduce detail far above audible
frequencies. The G2, for example, is down only 3db at 40,000Hz. While these
frequencies are obviously not audible, it does mean that the G2 can reproduce
extreme detail in the overtone structures of instruments very accurately. The
result is very natural and realistic reproduction.
W18EX
A tweeter as detailed and accurate as the G2 requires a
mid-woofer capable of a high level of detail. We chose the high-sensitivity
version of the Seas W18 mid/woofer from their top-tier Excel performance line.
This low-mass magnesium cone driver is among the most dynamic and detailed
midrange drivers available. It is a perfect complement to the speed of the G2
tweeter.
TC Sounds 989 10"
We matched the quality of the G2 and W18 by
working closely with the engineers at TC Sounds to create the 989. This
extremely low distortion driver plays authoritatively deep in a relatively
small enclosure. The massive motor size and 21mm of XMAX are indicative of its
excellent power-handling capabilities with minimal distortion. This design
allows the HT3 to operate at a nominal 8-ohms.
