"Special Edition" Veracity project...

August

ht1This month's highlight Veracity SE project was built as our original prototype when developing the HT1 design.

A few months ago we found an absolutely gorgeous selection of waterfall bubinga (an African hardwood) veneer that seemed perfect for our inaugural HT1 Special Edition project.

The wavy grain pattern and incredible 3-D figuring literally appear an inch deep. You are inclined to touch it just to make sure it is flat.

We then found a handsome piece of straight-grained bubinga hardwood for the front baffle. The contrast of the straight grain with the waterfall pattern in the veneer results in a speaker that looks as if it could have been carved out of a solid block of wood.

I'm quite pleased with how these turned out—so much so, I've decided to build a few more pairs. But I'm already looking ahead to our next special project.

what's next?

September's project should be something really special. I recently purchased a stunning piece of 3"-thick, solid A+++ Curly Claro Walnut. The grain arcs in one direction, while the figuring arcs in the opposite direction. Colors include a range of pinks, oranges, blacks, browns and blonds. It was a truly amazing find.

Out of it, we were able to craft a pair of mirror-image, book-matched front baffles that, when combined with a gorgeous burled walnut veneer I obtained a few months back, will result in the most spectacular pair of speakers we have ever produced. I'm excited.

Stay tuned...
