Veracity HT1 in BMW Luguna Seca Blue

July

Rob Kurylo's favorite color is BMW Laguna Seca Blue. So when he conjured up images of his dream speakers, naturally he saw an automotive finish worthy of its namesake.

We emailed back and forth for quite a while discussing finishing options. I had never done a Veracity speaker in an automotive finish, but our job is to make dreams come true. So Laguna Seca Blue it was. And with a high-gloss piano lacquer finish to boot!

detail

detailBut what kind of solid wood baffle would work great with such a bold color? I thought a light wood would provide the best contrast. I had very nice peices of bird's eye maple, a highly figured maple and coral maple.

In the end, we tried all three and it was obvious that the highly figured maple provided the greatest visual impact.

Rob wanted to know if this was the most unusual pair of Veracity's I had ever built. I assured him they were.

He also wanted to know if these speakers would be selected for the Veracity of the Month. "Of course," I said. And so we present them for July.

Happy listening Rob!

what's next?

I started a pair of HT1's in cinnamon burl a few months back and some other projects got in the way. I'm finally finishing them up and really like what I'm seeing. I'm not sure, but I think bosse pomele front baffles will finish these off nicely. I'm also working on a pair of macassar ebony speakers that will be the richest looking pair I have ever produced. And there are a few other surprises we'll be ready to announce shortly.

Stay tuned...
