Veracity of the
month...
every so often this page will highlight a
truly unique "Special Edition" Veracity project...
June
Ron Badley wanted something special but really didn't know much
about woods. Since he was traveling near an exotic wood supplier, I suggested
he stop in and pay them a visit.
He saw a lot of wood but fell in love with some plum
pudding fiddleback mahogany. The board was twice the size he needed so I told
him I would split it with him.
What veneer
I suggested macassar ebony might be a very good match in
that in addition to the black portions, there are also streaks of a color
similar to this mahogany.
The result provides a great deal of contrast between the
darker ebony and the meium mahogany. The plum pudding mahogany has striking
fiddleback figuring and makes for a very nice visual presentation.
Now that I have another piece of this mahogany, I will
most likely do another pair just like this one. It's a very nice
combination.

what's next?
Well, we have a whole bunch of interesting new woods and
veneers - enough to keep us busy for the next few months. Macassar ebony,
Mexican cocobolo, bock mottled makore, burled English oak and others to name a
few. Should be some good times ahead!
Stay tuned...
