Veracity of the
month...
every so often this page will highlight a
truly unique "Special Edition" Veracity project...
May
Lars Berk wanted curly bubinga, which is slightly
understated compared to waterfall bubinga.
This particular batch was on the brownish side of things
with less red than most bubinga. And Lars wanted a lighter front baffle and
trim to provide some tasteful contrast.
African bosse pommele
I had a rather large piece of African bosse pommele that
I used a portion of for last month's
Veracity-of-the-Month. It seemed like just what the doctor ordered (Lars just
happens to be one).
Active or passive?
Lars wanted to future-proof his speakers by allowing
for both active and passive crossovers without the need to internally re-wire
the speaker.
So we did just that with a series of binding posts and
switches. Lars can now run his HT3's with the normal passive crossovers and
switch to an active crossover at any point in the future. Once set up with
active crossovers, he can even A/B them to hear the difference.
Now that's versatility!
Owner comments
I received the speakers yesterday afternoon and set
them up this morning. They arrived in excellent condition with only a few marks
on the cartoon itself, a miracle considering how heavy they are. Your
impeccable packaging technique saved them form any damage. I am certain of
that.
Now to the esthetic part. I don't think any picture can do their
beauty justice. They are truly a work of art and your intense labor to build
them can never be recovered for the amount that you charge.
Anyone who
receives a speaker from you shall count their blessings. They are absolutely
stunning and integrate well with our furniture. They are more than I hoped for.
Thank you.
Beauty is only skin deep, or is it not? It can only get you
so far. Substance will complete the package.
I have spent the whole
morning and good part of this afternoon to listen and set them up correctly.
Your set-up and demo cd's are wonderful. It is very revealing to listen to a
great recording on this speaker.
I know room acoustics are a major part
of the performance of any speaker and with this limitation in mind, I can
honestly say I have never heard more detail or more front to back depth than
with this speaker.
Over the past year I listened to B&W's
802/801's, Revel F50's, Von Scheikert's VR-4, and many others. None of them
approach the seamless driver integration of this speaker, music just flows. And
all this after only a few hours of listening! Thank you again.

what's next?
Well, we have a whole bunch of interesting new woods and
veneers - enough to keep us busy for the next few months. Macassar ebony,
Mexican cocobolo, bock mottled makore, burled English oak and others to name a
few. Should be some good times ahead!
Stay tuned...
