March # 2
The Story
OK. So they are not Veracity models. But we completed
two projects this month that I thought warranted special recognition.
The first is this pair of Ellis 1801's commissioned by
Ian Steward and shipped to the United Arab Emirates.
Ian asked for Mexican cocobolo front baffles on cabinets
veneered with African makore.
This is one of our favorite combinations and these
turned out very nice indeed.
As Ian put it in an email. "Thank you so very much
for making them, they are simply beautiful! I'm really struggling to find the
words to convey just how pleased I am! You have done such an excellent job. I
haven't stopped smiling since they arrived!"
Story # 2
 The second pair was
a special request by Mark Bordenca. He wanted specific drivers so we built a
pair to his specifications.
Mark specifically requested Scan Speak Revelator
midwoofers and Scan Speak tweeters.
In terms of cabinets, he wanted macassar ebony veneer
(one of our favorites) with Australian lacewood front baffles. It is rare to
have lacewood lumber that is wide enough for baffles. But I happened to have
some on hand and it was just wide enough.
