V-series V3 ...
price/performance breakthrough in a 3-way
high-definition floor-standing reference monitor
Since its introduction, the Veracity
HT3's have become our top-selling model. But the drivers are quite
expensive and there is an incredible amount of labor that goes into every HT3
cabinet.
We often wondered
if we could find alternative drivers and simplify cabinet construction (to
reduce labor) to develop a speaker that provides similar performance at a lower
cost. If so, it would certainly be a price-performance leader.
Dennis Murphy had heard good things about the 4" Visaton
TI 100 midrange and suggested we take a look. If it measured well, it just
might be what we were looking for. And sure enough, it measured extremely flat.
Since we obtained great results with the LCY pure ribbon
tweeter in the Veracity HT2's, we decided to throw that
into the mix.
The only remaining question was the woofer. We
considered an 8" TC Sounds woofer similar to the 10" version in the HT3's, but
the sensitivity of the 8" was simply too low. Then we noticed that Visaton also
offered 8" woofers. So we thought we'd give them a try.
The combined results were very impressive indeed.
As
indicated in this plot , the frequency response was ruler flat (within 1
1/2 db from 35Hz to 25,000Hz).
The V3's frequency response is 32Hz to 60,000Hz +/- 3db.
It delivers crystal-clear transparency on the top end, extremely accurate
midrange capable of resolving minute details in the source recording and, at
the same time, delivers deep, tuneful bass. What's more, it's imaging
capabilities are difficult to put into words.

specifications/cost.
That may sound too good to be true, but those are the
goals we used to develop this world-class speaker system. And the results were
better than we expected.
the cabinets
The second
challenge in creating this model was to design a cabinet that could be built
with far less labor. Of course, we always want to keep the option for
customization open. So we decided to offer two cabinet versions.
The first is what we refer to as our "standard" cabinet.
This cabinet will offer a limited selection of standard veneers (samples
available soon). This will allow us to offer this cabinet model at a starting
price of $3495.
In addition to lower cost, another advantage of our
standard V3 cabinets (when they become available) is shorter delivery times,
measured in days rather than months.
Custom cabinets (such as those shown here) are, as the
name implies, fully customizable. You can design your own cabinet with
virtually any veneer/wood combination you desire. Or match your favorite
automotive finish if you prefer. See our custom finish
options for details. Since labor costs will be much higher, these models
will have a base starting price of $4495.
the sound
V3's are
extremely transparent and literally disappear into the room for that "you are
there" experience.
- The top end is crystal clear with detailed overtones
that make instruments and voices come alive.
- The soundstage is deep and wide with instruments and
vocals precisely located within a panorama of sound.
- Midrange is extremely detailed and accurate. Voices
are rendered with utter realism.
- Fast transient response capabilities result in
percussive sounds that are extremely realistic.
In short, the V3's faithfully and truthfully render the
highest quality full-range sound your source equipment is capable of providing.
V3 pricing
Normally, speakers of this quality retail from $7500.00
to $10,000.00 or more per pair. But because these are custom-crafted and you
are purchasing direct, you can expect to pay considerably less. V3 pricing
starts at $3495.00 with standard cabinets and $3995 for fully-custom cabinets.
